IBS March Blog Hop - Chalkboard Technique

Happy Thursday,

This month's Inspired by Stamping Blog Hop Challenge is the chalkboard technique.  I made a chalkboard easel stand card for my very sweet friend, Jean.

Although I got the original idea for the card here, I didn't follow that tutorial.  To make the card, I started with an A2 base in white CS.  From the bottom I cut in 3/4" on both sides and up 2".  As I wanted the easel stand to look like wood, I brayered my Woodgrain EF with Crumb Cake ink before embossing the Crumb Cake CS.  The 'wood' strips were attached to the front and inside of the card.

Supplies used:  Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, and White CS, Melon Mambo and White Ink, White Embossing Powder, Woodgrain EF, PTI Banner Builder Dies, Bakers Twine, IBS Seam Binding and Flower, IBS Beautiful Iris and Fancy Alphabet Stamp Sets.

LNS 215 - Saying Goodbye to SAB

Happy Monday!

It's Monday and that means it's time for a new LateNightStamper's challenge.  This week we are saying goodbye to SAB by using our favorite SAB set(s) and/or item(s).

It seems I just said 'hello' to SAB and now I am saying 'thanks' for all the freebies.  Friday will be the last day to take advantage of all the SAB products.

As you can see from my shadowbox card, I have a few favorites.  I loved Vintage Verses as soon as I saw the set.  Pretty Petites and the matching Petite Curly Label punch were definite must-haves for me.  Feeling Sentimental was not at the top of my list when SAB started, but I sure have grown to like that set.  As for paper and ribbon--aren't we all addicted?!?!?

Supplies used:  Island Indigo and Very Vanilla CS, *Sycamore Street DSP and *Island Indigo Ribbon, Island Indigo and Pool Party Ink, 1/2" Circle and *Petite Curly Label Punches, and *Feeling Sentimental, *Pretty Petites, and *Vintage Verses Stamp Sets.

Please visit the LateNightStamper's Challenge Blog to see the DT's samples and to get all the details on participating in this week's challenge.  You have a full week to play along and link your SAB card or project.  I look forward to seeing what your favorite SAB items are!

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Because Vintage Tag

Happy Tuesday!

Today I have a girly, pearly vintage tag to share.

To create the edging of the tag, I started with a piece of Crumb Cake CS cut to 3 9/16 x 6 and put the top of it inside the largest of the IBS Fancy Label Dies 1.  The layered piece of MME Blush was cut at 3 1/16 x 5 1/2 and edged with the second largest of the IBS Dies.  When doing this, only roll through your BigKick (or other cutting machine) until the edge is cut, then back out.  Do not run the entire platform through or you will get an imprint of the rest of the die on your CS.  The odd width measurements are the exact sizes needed to fit the papers inside the dies.  I then distressed the edges with a distressing tool and Crumb Cake Ink.  I also sponged the crochet trim, doily, sentiment, and tulle of the mannequin with Crumb Cake Ink.  The flowers were sponged with Pretty in Pink.  Please click here for the video tutorial on creating the puffy tulle.

I am linking my tag up to the following challenges:

Friday Mashup #100 - Choose your favorite Mashup.  I started by planning to create Mashup #7, which is Feminine and Ribbon/Pearls, but I wasn't sure Crochet Trim and Seam Binding would count as ribbon.  So, I am actually entering this as Mashup #14, which is to use Flowers and Vintage Style.

IBSIC #49 - Color challenge of Kraft, Light Pink, and Green.

Simon Says Stamp & Show - Chic to be Shabby (add a bit of a shabby touch with some brown ink around the edges).

Supplies used:

SU - Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla CS, Crumb Cake and Pretty in Pink Ink, Very Vanilla Seam Binding, and 5/8" Flower Trim

IBS - Fancy Label Dies 1, Crochet Trim, Small Flower, and Just Because Stamp Set

Other Products - MME Blush PP, Recollections Pearls, CTMH Find Your Style Stamp Set, Doily, Eyelet, and Tulle

IBS WHW #92 - Decorating Buttons

Happy Sunday!

This week's IBS WHW tutorial is all about decorating buttons.  Colleen has a step-by-step pictorial on how to create your own custom buttons.  This is a totally new technique for me.

Here is a picture of the buttons I started with:

To create my buttons, I stamped with Wisteria Wonder on So Saffron CS using the text part of the large stamp from Fresh Cuts.  I used 1/2, 3/8, and 3/4 inch punches and sanded the edges after the circles dried on the buttons.

This was a fun and easy technique that I will definitely be doing again.

Supplies used:  Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, White, and Wisteria Wonder CS, Pretty in Pink and Wisteria Wonder Ink, So Saffron Buttons, Wisteria Wonder Baker's Twine, Circle Punches, Dizzix Daisies Die, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Framed Tulips EF, Swirls Sizzlet, Pearls, and Fresh Cuts and Season by Season Stamp Sets.
